Unexpected knock at the door – Writing T2 Wk6

Hey guys! Welcome back to my blog!!!! <3 So yesterday in literacy we had to write a narrative story and this is mine. Okay so please read it. Our prompt was that there was an unexpected knock at the door when home alone. I would appreciate it if you left a positive comment 🙂 And maybe gave me some feedback and tips to help improve my writing! Thank you <33

“Alright we’re off now!” My mum announces, “And remember.. Whatever you decide to do tonight, if you hear a knock at the door, DON’T open it.” “Yes yes, I already know mum.” I click my tongue in annoyance. My mum and dad were going out for dinner, and I was being left back.. alone. It wasn’t like this was my first time being home alone, and I am not complaining at ALL. I liked being home alone. I had all the freedom in the world, and tonight.. I knew what I was going to do.

The sounds of a man yelling emitted from the tv as I laughed. I was watching THE best youtuber—THAT DUDE—while lying down on the couch. The window was open, and the harsh breeze from outside soared through the house.. That was when I heard a faint knock at the door.

At first, I brushed it off as my imagination. It could’ve just been my mind playing tricks on me since I’m home alone. But then.. Tap tap tap.. It got louder, and that’s when I knew my head wasn’t just playing up. I was growing nervous and I paused the tv.

I walked to the door before stopping just in front of it. My head was telling me ‘STOP! DON’T OPEN THE DOOR. You know what your mother told you. And it could be ANYTHING out there!’ but my guts were telling me ‘Do it.. You know you want to know what’s out there. What’s the harm in just opening the door this once?’ So I decided to listen to my guts.

Reaching for the door knob, I peer through the peephole on the door. Unfortunately it was too dark for me to see, and my heart began racing. Squinting my eyes and holding onto my chest, I slowly creak open the door… And what I saw next was not what I was expecting.

A man with a bird head appeared, yelling, almost screeching, “Kkuekkuek sku kj!” I was flabbergasted. ABSOLUTELY STUNNED. Is this real? Am I dreaming?! I didn’t know what to do.. But for some reason I invited it inside.

The bird-man thing walked past me, and my brain was already hurting. The smell of burnt oak and cigarettes rushed past me, and I almost gagged. I didn’t want the thing sitting on the couch so I just made it stand.

“What are you? And why are you here?” I questioned. “HOW DID YOU FIND ME?!?!?” The man with the bird head walked over to the hat stand, taking my mum’s prized hat and wearing it. I almost strangled it right then and there.

“Okay,” I sighed, “you have to answer.” The thing shrieked something incomprehensible to my ears, and it sounded like suffering. I eventually came to my senses and realised what was actually happening. “GET OUT! BIRD THING” I shouted, glaring down the bird man thing. I know I invited it in, but now I’m kicking it out. The thing was still, refusing to  respond to any of my orders, so I karate kicked it out the front door before slamming it shut.

Sighing, I went back to the couch before unpausing my show. I never want to experience this ever again. And my mum was right. I will never open the door when I’m home alone ever again. I’m lucky I kicked the thing out because what if it ate me and I turned into a bird woman?! I shook the thought out of my head before refocusing back onto the tv.

Distantly, I could hear a voice whispering “I am not a bird thing.” And I quickly jolted up, looking out my window. I could’ve sworn I saw something.

Wait a minute… My mum is going to be SO MAD that her prized hat is gone!
